Dr Helen Barry is a graduate of University College Cork, and qualified in medicine in 1989. She interned at Cork University Hospital, and gained experience in various fields of medicine with a special interest in women's health, pediatrics, psychiatric, geriatric and emergency medicine.

She completed her GP training in Edinburgh prior to becoming a member of The Royal College of General Practitioners.

She returned to Ireland in 1998, and has been working as a GP in Kinsale since then.

She has attained additional post graduate qualifications in Children's Health as well as Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and is involved in continuing education re diabetes and emergency medicine.

She is planning to lead the medical centers Youth Health Clinic with special interest in sexual health, STI screening and contraception. She also has a keen interest in all areas of general practice including paediatrics, women's health screening, mental health and geriatric medicine.

She attends Haven Bay Care Centre weekly, to care for our geriatric residents there.

She is an active member of the West Cork GP Committee, and the Irish Community Rapid Response team.
